Speedy Goffs yearlings win Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes
Margot Did blitzed her rivals at York to land the Group 1 Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes for Michael Bell and Hayley Turner.
The daughter of Exceed and Excel has been ridden by Turner in all of her 13 starts, winning five of them, and her trainer said after the race:
‘This season just keeps getting better. This has been the plan since she won at Sandown and she is a really tough filly. Last year she was probably quite unlucky in the Lowther and then this year we found the key to riding her at Sandown when we found that she is happy bowling along and today from a long way out she was one of the few on the bridle. I thought it was going to be tough for a three-year-old filly only getting 2lb but she delivered.’
Bell said after the race that the Group 1 Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp in October is now on the agenda for Margot Did, who was sold as a yearling at Goffs by Caherass Stud to Michael Halford for €16,000.
