Europe’s Most Expensive Foals…
A record breaking November Foal Sale in 2011 saw Europe’s three highest priced foals sold at Goffs with two foals making €800,000 and a top price of€850,000 - comfortably surpassing the Goffs foal record set back in 1984 when a daughter of Golden Fleece realised IR500,000 guineas.
This sale is about the very best of Irish and last year’s outstanding results prove once again that the best sell better at Goffs because the buyers are at Goffs. A massive international crowd was present in 2011 with the top three foals selling to buyers from Hong Kong, USA, and Turkey.
There was sustained demand from the start to the finish of last year’s November Foal Sale. Day 1 set the tone with turnover, average and median jumping by 122%, 51% and 80% respectively. The momentum continued on Wednesday with more impressive gains and the concluding day was electric, with pinhookers and end users battling for a catalogue of real quality and depth. That buoyancy resulted in impressive gains on all three days and another 14 % rise in average.
Europe’s Highest Priced Filly…
Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale 2011 followed the record breaking trend set at the Foal Sale when the Jim Bolger consigned Banimpire sold for €2,300,000 to Michel Zerolo of Oceanic Bloodstock. This was the highest price by some margin in Europe in 2011 for a filly out of training.
Goffs aim is to sell the best Irish horses to a global audience and the November Breeding Stock Sales ensured this was achieved in some style and increases were recorded in turnover, average and median by 38%, 63% and 11% respectively. Along with Banimpire, other high priced mares in recent years have sold for €1,000,000, €620,000, €440,000, €430,000 etc.
Ireland holds a unique appeal for international breeding stock buyers: the best bloodlines and unrivalled welcome and service from Goffs and Irish Thoroughbred Marketing. Buyers from India, Turkey, Morocco, Japan, Russia, USA, Scandinavia, South Africa, Italy and Australia regularly purchase at this sale.
The longstanding relationship between Indian purchasers and Goffs is something that continues to flourish as the success of Goffs purchases is unrivalled. Goffs and ITM will further increase investment into Indian racing with significant sponsorships in 2012 to further strengthen relationship with Indian buyers and ensure their continued participation at our November Breeding Stock Sale.
