Goffs Chief Executive Henry Beeby commented:
“Yearling buyers only need to visit one sales complex in Ireland this year. Along with our market leading Orby Sale, Goffs is also the venue of Ireland’s second best yearling sale – the Sportsman’s Sale and the combined three days result in a chance for buyers at every level of the market to purchase top quality Irish yearlings. Just to be clear, Goffs will be selling quality yearlings over three days in October with our Orby and Sportsman’s Sale. I make the point as there has been some confusion in this connection recently.
The last renewal of the Sportsman’s produced two Group 1 winners that cost just €36,000 and €34,000. That is serious quality and value, and exemplifies what this Sale is all about. We have selected an impressive catalogue of good looking, athletic, commericial yearlings that we believe will live up to the reputation of the sale’s former graduates”.
Quality drafts from many of Ireland’s leading consignors are catalogued including Ballylinch Stud, Camas Park Stud, Derrinstown Stud, Irish National Stud, Lynn Lodge Stud, Rathbarry Stud, Staffordstown, and The Castlebridge Consignment, and among the diverse range of sires represented are Acclamation, Azamour, Bushranger, Cape Cross, Footstepsinthesand, High Chaparral, Holy Roman Emperor, Hurricane Run, Lawman, Mastercraftsman, Raven’s Pass, Shamardal, Teofilo and Yeats.
The Sportsman’s Sale was last staged in 2009 and graduates included Group 1 National Stakes winner Kingsfort and Group 1 Moyglare Stakes winner Termagant, who cost €36,000 and €34,000 respectively. The prolific Fleeting Spirit, winner of the Group 1 July Cup, cost just €35,000 at an earlier renewal.
