2YO Beckford Wins Gr.2 Railway Stakes

Orby Sale graduate Beckford looks to have a bright future ahead of him having impressed with a smart victory in Saturday’s Group 2 Railway Stakes at the Curragh’s Irish Derby weekend.

Trained by Gordon Elliott, the 2YO son of Bated Breath made a winning debut at the Curragh in mid-May and maintained his unbeaten status in Saturday’s win where he raced without cover and won by a length with a bit in hand. The colt holds entries for the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes on 13 August and Group 1 National Stakes on 10 September.

Beckford was offered by Lynn Lodge Stud at the 2016 Goffs Orby Sale where he was purchased by Aidan O'Ryan and Gordon Elliott for €55,000. He was raced by Nick Bradley Racing Club before being sold privately to his current owners, Newtown Anner Stud Farm.
