Cause for celebrations at The Curragh

Excelebration won his first start for new trainer Aiden O’Brien and owner Derrick Smith when he strolled away with the Group 3 Big Bad Bob Gladness Stakes at The Curragh on Sunday.

The four year old son of Exceed and Excel is now likely to be aimed at the Group 1 Lockinge Stakes at Newbury next month.

O'Brien said: "I am delighted to get him started and Joseph was delighted with him - he travelled well and quickened very well. I look forward to his next run and the plan is the Lockinge. Frankel is an incredible horse and we look forward to the next day."

Excelebration was sold by Owenstown Stud to John Walsh Bloodstock for €15,000 at the Goffs November Foal Sales 2008.
