Champions Sale Spotlight: Two Year Old Winners

Goffs Champions Sale in association with Brown Thomas is the opening event of Irish Champions Weekend, taking place before racing at Leopardstown on Saturday 13 September.  

Among those catalogued for the boutique Horses In Training Sale are two year old winners ACCEPTED, CLONARD STREET, KING CHRISTOPHE and ITORIO.

ACCEPTED: 

Dual winner ACCEPTED followed up on his first time out Curragh win in good style when taking the 5 furlong Listed Excelebration Tipperary Stakes on good ground in July. 

By first season sire Approve and from a family that includes Group 1 winners Exbourne and Expelled, ACCEPTED is described as having “plenty of pace” and comes to the Goffs Champions Sale having finished fifth in the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes at York. He is a high class prospect with a rating of 102.

CLONARD STREET:

CLONARD STREET is another winning juvenile to be offered for sale. By Archipenko, this colt displayed his talent when winning at the first time of asking at the Galway Festival in August.

Described by the Racing Post as a smart performance from a newcomer that is “clearly going places”, CLONARD STREET won the mile and half a furlong contest in convincing style and looks to be a horse with a bright future.

KING CHRISTOPHE:

Winner and Listed placed KING CHRISTOPHE is a two year old colt by Duke of Marmalade from the family of Group 1 winner Poliglote and numerous other black type achievers. 

This colt picked up well and showed a telling turn of foot to win by 1 1/4 lengths on good ground over a mile and half at Killarney, and followed this up with a third in the Coolmore Canford Cliffs Stakes at Tipperary in August.

ITORIO:

ITORIO is a winner over six furlongs at Naas on good to firm ground. By Oratorio, the sire of Hong Kong Champion Military Attack, this colt has been competing at a high level and finished only two and a half lengths behind Dick Whittington in a Group 3 at The Curragh.  He is rated 100.
