Group 1 winner Chelsea Rose topped a storming opening day of Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale today which saw significant increases in average (+9.9%), median (+25%) and turnover (+17%) over the corresponding day last year.
BBA Ireland went to €450,000 for the sales topping Moyglare Stud Stakes winner who was offered by Airlie Stud in foal to Tamayuz ().
There was no shortage of six figure sums, with other highlights including Grange Hill Stud’s Group 1 placed mare Fauvelia in foal to New Approach () who was bought for €420,000 by De Burgh Equine For I.E.C.A. Shortly afterwards the dam of Group 2 winning juvenile Tornado, Wana Doo () from Ennel Lodge Stud was sold to Oak Farm for €400,000. The own sister to Teofilo, Teo’s Sister (), another from the Grange Hill Stud draft, was knocked down to Jim Bolger at €350,000.
Bolger’s Redmondstown Stud provided the next two highest priced lots when Family (), an own sister to Danehill and dam of Acomb Stakes winner Dundonnell in foal to Teofilo, went to BBA Ireland for €260,000. The mare’s colt foal by Proud Citizen fetched €250,000 at yesterday’s Foal Sale. The Group placed Kitty Kiernan meanwhile was offered in foal to New Approach () and was sold to Blandford Bloodstock for €250,000. Her filly by the leading first season sire also made €250,000 at yesterday’s Foal Sale.
