Goffs Group Double at Sandown

Goffs Graduates enjoyed a successful afternoon in Group company at Sandown Park with CUSTOM CUT (pictured) winning the Group 2 bet 365 Mile and MASTER APPRENTICE taking the Group 3 bet 365 Classic Trial.

CUSTOM CUT won the Group 2 contest in good style by 1 ½ lengths from Goffs Orby Graduate Here Comes When, to complete an impressive tally of 11 career wins and 5 Group wins. The David O’Meara trained gelding is by Notnowcato and was sold at the Goffs Open Yearling Sale for €5,800 from Moyglare Stud to Knockenduff Racing in 2011.

MASTER APPRENTICE, a 3 year old colt by Mastercraftsman, made all under jockey David Probert for trainer Andrew Balding and in the colours of Jadara Stables Sl, to win the Group 3 Classic Trial in taking style and looks set for a bright future. A graduate of both the Goffs November Foal Sale and the Goffs Orby Sale, Master Apprentice was bred and sold by Grangemore Stud as a foal for €33,000 to Richard McDonnell in 2012 and as a yearling from Home Farm Stud to MAB Agency for €44,000.

The Goffs November Foal Sale had enjoyed success earlier in the afternoon when MUTARAKEZ won the Esher Cup by 2 ¾ lengths for Brian Meehan and Hamdan Al Maktoum. He was sold as a foal in 2012 from Ballygreany Stud (from Oghill Stud) to Meridian International for €15,000.
