Gavin Hernon Appointed As Goffs Agent In France

Goffs is pleased to announce the appointment of Gavin Hernon as their new representative in France.  Gavin’s extensive experience within the French thoroughbred industry includes roles as pupil assistant to trainers Andre Fabre and Nicolas Clement as well as working with Jean Pierre Deroubaix of the French Bloodstock Agency (FBA).

Gavin will utilise his contacts in France to assist vendors and purchasers in both the Flat and National Hunt markets, commenting:

“France holds huge potential for Goffs in both Flat and National Hunt.  The quality of French stallions continues to improve and the home market is well supplied, therefore it has never been as attractive to sell premium-eligible yearlings in Ireland at the Orby Sale. The introduction of the Goffs London Sale has also seen fantastic results for French Horses In Training with Pornichet and Smoking Sun going on to Group 1 success.

In National Hunt, the number of French imports to Ireland has increased considerably over the last decade - clearly with good reason as there were 7 winners at Cheltenham 2016 bearing the FR suffix. Goffs National Hunt team has done incredible work over the last 5 years, increasing the average of the Land Rover sale by 131%, nearly double that of its nearest competitor.  This sale together with the December Sale is an opportunity for French breeders to showcase their young stock.

It’s a great honour to act as French representative to Goffs and I hope to thank the team for their confidence by reinforcing the importance of the French market to Ireland”.

Welcoming Gavin to the team, Goffs Chief Executive Henry Beeby said:

“There has always been a strong link between Goffs and French vendors and purchasers, and this appointment seeks to rejuvenate and grow that relationship.  I’ve been very impressed by Gavin’s knowledge of the market and his enthusiasm, and we are looking forward to focussing more closely on France with his help”.
