Goffs to auction Nomination to Makfi at Molony Gala Ball

Goffs Chief Executive Henry Beeby will auction a nomination to exciting first season sire Makfi among 15 items tomorrow night at a Gala Ball in the Dunraven Arms Hotel in Limerick to honour the multiple Champion Jockeys Tim and Martin Molony.

The auction will raise funds to immortalise the Molony brothers who dominated racing in Ireland and the UK in the 1940s and 1950s through a life-size bronze which will be located at their local track, overlooking the parade ring at Limerick Racecourse.

Henry Beeby will conduct the auction, which also includes a nomination to fellow Tweenhills Stud residents Harbour Watch or Havana Gold, and Goffs is delighted to also support the event by taking a table of guests as there are close ties between the Molony family and Goffs.  Not only is Martin’s son Peter Molony of Rathmore Stud a Goffs National Hunt agent, but Henry Beeby’s grandfather George Beeby trained Silver Fame to win the 1951 Cheltenham Gold Cup, ridden by Martin Molony.

Champion miler and Guineas winner Makfi stands at Tweenhills Farm & Stud for £25,000 and the nomination has kindly been gifted by Sheikh Fahad Al Thani.

Tickets for the Ball are sold-out.
