Goffs Extends Its Global Reach With Three New International Agents

Goffs is delighted to announce the appointment of three new international representatives, Gatewood Bell in USA, Takaya Kimura in Japan and Juan Pablo Sullivan in South America.

Commenting on the latest members to join the Goffs team, Chief Executive Henry Beeby said:

“These appointments clearly demonstrate Goffs’ desire to reach all corners of the globe.  All three are industry leaders in their region and their addition to our strong network of established international agents will ensure yet more overseas buyers come to Goffs to buy Ireland’s best”.

USA
Kentucky native Gatewood Bell of Cromwell Bloodstock will represent Goffs in North America.

Son of Darley USA President Jimmy Bell, Gatewood grew up on his family’s Jonabell Farm and gained an invaluable understanding of the bloodstock industry working on the farm as well as for various sales consignments during his school years before graduating from University of Kentucky with a Degree in Finance.

Bell’s experience also includes working for Kiaran McLaughlin on the track for three years in Florida and New York, where he also represented jockey Fernando Jara.  He joined Headley Bell’s Nicoma Bloodstock in Lexington in 2007 before going out on his own in 2011 setting up Cromwell Bloodstock, offering clients a full range of bloodstock services including purchasing at public auction, privately off the track, matings, racing manager, bloodstock consultancy and insurance.

Gatewood attends all the chief US auctions and race meetings including Saratoga, Gulfstream, and the Breeders Cup, and is a regular at the major European race meetings and sales.

Japan
Goffs will be represented in Japan by Takaya Kimura whose involvement in the Japanese industry includes his role as jockey’s agent to several high profile international riders when in Japan including Oliver Peslier, Christophe Soumillon, Douglas Whyte, Craig Williams, William Buick etc.  For the past ten years Takaya has been the official interpreter for overseas jockeys for the Japan Race Association.

As President of Dainihon Tsusho Ltd since 1988, an importer of saddlery and equine products, Takaya’s clients include many of Japan’s leading horse breeders, vets and trainers, while he also represents Foran Chemicals Ireland as an agent and distributor to the Japanese market.

Takaya Kimura is a long established owner in Ireland making him well placed to communicate the quality of Irish bloodstock and Irish racing to potential purchasers in Japan.  He accompanied Goffs Chairman Eimear Mulhern on her recent market visit to Japan, where they attended race meetings in Kyoto and Tokyo and met with several prominent breeders and owners in relation to the Goffs November Sale.

Takaya takes over the Goffs agent role from Takashi Kodama who will concentrate on his training operation while still maintaining strong links with Goffs.

South America
Juan Pablo Sullivan, of Chilean bloodstock agency Sullivan Bloodstock has been appointed as Goffs representative in South America.

From a family with a long history of successful breeding in South America and founders of the prestigious stud farm Haras Las Ortigas, Juan Pablo has held some influential positions in the Chilean horse racing industry. He has been involved in the commercial management of both the Club Hipico de Santiago, and the Criadores de Fina Sangre de Carrera while also fulfilling his role as an auctioneer.  He also commentated for Fox Sports on the Group 1 classics in 2002 and 2003.

Juan Pablo Sullivan has been influential in the increasing popularity of Irish bloodstock in South America, bringing mares and stallions into South America from Ireland and bringing mares to Ireland for Southern hemisphere coverings.
