Goffs Graduates Dominate On Goffs Thyestes Day at Gowran Park

Goffs graduates were to the forefront of a thrilling Goffs Thyestes Chase Day at Gowran Park yesterday, dominating the Goffs Thyestes Chase, the John Mulhern Galmoy Hurdle and the PJ Foley Memorial bumper.

Shaneshill, a Goffs foal graduate, won the Grade 2 John Mulhern Galmoy Hurdle in good style for Willie Mullins, Andrea and Graham Wylie and Paul Townend.  The superbly consistent son of King’s Theatre is now the winner of 8 races including the Grade 1 Champion Bumper at Punchestown, and is firmly on track for the Cheltenham Festival where he will contest the Grade 1 Stayers Hurdle.   Shaneshill was sold as a foal at Goffs in 2009 by Rathasker Stud to Kevin Ross Bloodstock for €33,000.

Goffs UK Spring Sale graduate Champagne West (pictured) put in a stunning front running display to defy his significant weight in the highly competitive Goffs Thyestes Chase, winning by 7 ½ lengths for trainer Henry de Bromhead and owner Roger Brookhouse.   Champagne West, who holds entries in the Cheltenham Gold Cup and Ryanair Chase and is set to be entered for the Aintree Grand National, was sold by Tinryland Stables to Gerry Hogan Bloodstock for £26,000 at the Goffs UK Spring Sale 2011

The final race of the day, the PJ Foley Memorial bumper, went the way of Goffs Punchestown Sale topper Getabird maintaining his 100% record on the track for owners Susannah and Rich Ricci.

Getabird was sold by Milestone Stables to Harold Kirk and Willie Mullins for €200,000 at the Goffs Punchestown Sale in 2016 and is now favourite for the Grade 1 Champion Bumper at Cheltenham.

Congratulations to all connections.
