Goffs November Foal Sale Gets Off To A Flying Start

Goffs November Sale got off to a flying start today with strong trade throughout the first day of Foals that saw an 82% rise in turnover over the first day in 2012.  Average and median increased by 13% and 18% respectively, while the high demand also resulted in a much improved clearance rate of 72%, up from 52% last year.

The top price also rose, with two foals fetching €43,000.  The first was Collegelands Stud’s son of Intikhab (Lot 57) who sold to Paul Cartan’s (pictured) Ballyphillip Stud, while the second last foal of the day was JK Thoroughbred’s filly by Big Bad Bob out of a sister to three Stakes winners (Lot 208), who sold to Equine Associates for the same sum.

BBA Ireland secured a colt from the first crop of Elusive Pimpernel (Lot 119) consigned by Clonaltra Stables for €33,000, while other highlights included a Zoffany colt from Seskin Stud (Lot 149) purchased by Martin Cullinane for €28,000 – the same price paid by Ballyphillip for Meadagh Stud’s Approve colt (Lot 187).
