Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint Win For November Sale

Goffs November Sale celebrated another international Group 1 Sprint victory yesterday with Goffs and DBS graduate Peniaphobia proving too sharp for a quality field in the Group 1 Longines Hong Kong Sprint at Sha Tin (photo courtesy of the HKJC).

Also a graduate of Goffs’ record breaking November Foal Sales, the son of Dandy Man turned in the performance of his career yesterday, breaking away smartly from the gates to a lead he never relinquished under a brilliant ride from top jockey Joao Moreira who commented after the race that “he has to be one of the best horses in Hong Kong." The four-year-old was formally trained in the UK by Richard Fahey before being sold to Hong Kong where he is now trained by Tony Cruz.

The win capped of a good year for Goffs and DBS on the track with the DBS Premier Yearling Sales also seeing Sole Power claim another international Group 1 race, the Al Quoz Sprint at the Dubai World Cup Meeting, while Goffs has celebrated two classic winners in Simple Verse and Covert Love.

Peniaphobia was purchased by Ballyhane Stud from Kilfeacle Stud at the 2011 Goffs November Foal Sale for €11,000. He was then sold at the 2012 DBS Premier Yearling Sales to Aidan & Robin O’Ryan from Ballyhane Stud for £20,000.
