Hillen & Ryan Secure Sales Toppers At Ready To Run Sale

Stephen Hillen and Kevin Ryan purchased 2011 Norfolk Stakes winner Bapak Chinta at Goffs Ready To Run Sale at Kempton, and the pairing secured the joint sales toppers at this year's renewal which recorded growth in average and a 11% increase in median.

Hillen & Ryan went to £70,000 for both Grove Stud’s son of Intense Focus () out of a sister to Gimcrack winner Bannister, and a Holy Roman Emperor colt consigned by Church Farm Stables ().

Trainer Pat Flynn paid £60,000 for a son of Exceed And Excel from Kilminfoyle House Stud, out of a sister to three time Group 1 winner Whipper and Champion filly Divine Proportions (), while Anne Cowley's three purchases included Oak Tree Farm's Kodiac brother to three winners () that was bought for £54,000.

Another of the Kilminfoyle House highlights was a son of Arch (Lot 81) that was knocked down to Andrew Balding for £50,000, a price matched by Clenagh Castle Stud's Verglas colt out of the Stakes winner Bashful (Lot 63) that went to Gay Kelleway and Peter Hickey.

At the conclusion of the one day Breeze Up, Goffs Chief Executive Henry Beeby said:

"We welcomed a huge crowd of buyers to Kempton today dominated by British trainers.  The average and median have both advanced with the latter jumping by 11% which points to a strong sale although it was certainly more selective than last year as evidenced by the 73% clearance rate.

Goffs Ready To Run Sale is a proven performer on the track and enjoyed the highest strike rate of winners to numbers sold last year of any breeze up sale in Europe which particularly drives the aforementioned trainers to this sale.

The unique atmosphere and facilities at Kempton, especially the consistent Polytrack surface, set this sale apart and our challenge is to take a step up with the pedigrees that we catalogue so that the sale continues to develop and grow".
