Hurricane Fly lands third successive Grade 1 Irish Champion Hurdle

Goffs graduate Hurricane Fly landed his third successive Grade 1 Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown this afternoon for Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh.

The fourteen-time Grade 1 hurdle winner went clear of his rivals entering the straight to record a comfortable five length victory from Thousand Stars in second with Binocular a nose behind in third, and is now quoted at 11/4 for the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham.

Hurricane Fly was sold as a yearling at Goffs by the Irish National Stud to R. Teman and J.L. Pelleton for €65,000.

The next sale at Goffs is the February Sale from 13 – 14 February which features yearlings, older horses and breeding stock under both codes.  Among the many highlights of the National Hunt prospects on offer are a sister to the best chaser in a long time in Sprinter Sacre () as well as a brother to Grade 1 performer Newbay Prop ().
