Increases across the board at Goffs February Sale

Increases were recorded across the board on the opening session of Goffs February Sale, which was topped by a €100,000 son of Montjeu bought by Hugo Merry.

 

Offered by Abbeville & Meadowcourt Studs, the yearling colt is the first foal out of a winning own sister to US Grade 2 winner Grande Melody (). Turnover rose by 44% on the corresponding day last year, with average up 34% and the median up by 82%.

Thistle Farm were purchasers of the second highest priced lot of the afternoon, going to€75,000 to secure Jockey Hall Stud's yearling colt by Dalakhani (L). He is out of aSadler's Wells own sister to Group performers Unique Pose and Easy Sunshine.

Another sought after colt was Honeypound Stud's Acclamation yearling out of a half sister toGroup 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud winner Linda's Lad (), who was knocked down to BBA Ireland Ltd for €48,000. Camas Park earlier paid the same amount for a son of High Chaparral from the family of Petrushka and Spectrum (), also offered by Honeypound Stud. Glenspring Farm's well related Amadeus Wolf colt () meanwhile fetched €46,000, selling to Abbey Farm Stables.

The sale continues at 10am tomorrow with a day dedicated to quality Flat and National Hunt breeding stock.
