The Citadel Stud Dispersal draft is expected to draw great attention from international buyers at the upcoming Goffs November Sale when the world class group of mares and foals from the late breeder Gerry Oldham will be offered by Kildaragh and Knocktoran Studs.
A strong Group 1 French influence can be seen throughout the pedigrees and three sisters out of the Stakes winning Danehill mare Mahalia received a perfectly timed Group 1 boost to their pedigrees when Ectot landed the Group 1 Criterium International at Saint Cloud last Friday ().
Mahalia is the dam of Tonnara who has now produced two Group 1 winners in Ectot and St James’s Palace Stakes winner Most Improved. Her three daughters in the November Sale are the French Group winner Albisola () in foal to Arcano whose Raven’s Pass filly realised €520,000 at this year’s Orby Sale; the four year old winning Dalakhani fillyPembina (); and the Group placed Bufera in foal to Lawman (). They will be consigned by Knocktoran Stud.
Kildaragh Stud consign an equally impressive trio of Citadel mares headed by the Group winner and Group 1 French 1000 Guineas placed four year old Topeka (). The daughter of Whipper is in foal to leading young sire and French Derby winner Lawman. Topeka’s dam Sovana () will also be offered for sale. The winner and Group placed Desert King mare is the dam of four winners in total and is sister to another French Group winner in Perugina. Sovana is in foal to Born To Sea. Also offered by Kildaragh is winning mare Segesta (), sister to Group 1 Prix Saint-Alary winner Marotta, in foal toHoly Roman Emperor.
Foals from several of these impressive mares are among the highlights of the strong November Foal Sale catalogue. They are a Lawman filly out of Bufera (); a Sir Percy colt out of Albisola (); a daughter of Arcano out of Sovana (); and a Holy Roman Emperor colt out of Segesta ().
Goffs November Sale takes place from 18 – 23 November. The Foal Sale takes place over four days starting on the 18th and is followed on the evening of Thursday 21st by the November Yearling Sale. The two day November Breeding Stock Sale commences on Friday 22nd November. The Paulyn Dispersal will be held on Friday 22nd.
