Orby graduate Ballybacka Lady landed the Group 3 Derrinstown Stud 1,000 Guineas Trial.
Sent off at 33/1, the daughter of Hurricane Run travelled well tracking the leader, and was ridden to lead two furlongs out under Fran Berry. She kept on strongly in the closing furlong to beat Sapphire Pendant by 1 ¾ length. Her jubilant trainer Pat Fahy said after the race “It is unbelievable to have a filly like that. She’ll go for the Guineas at the Curragh now”.
was sold by Upper Farm Stud to Pat Fahy for €18,000 at the 2009 Goffs Orby Sale.
