Orby Sale Spotlight: The Wildenstein Stables Ltd Dispersal Yearlings...

In today’s Orby Sale spotlight, bloodstock and pedigree consultant Clive Webb-Carter profiles the first draft from the much anticpated Wildenstein Stables Ltd Dispersal at Goffs - the yearlings...

The 18 blue-blooded yearlings from The Wildenstein Stables Ltd Dispersal, consigned under The Castlebridge Consignment, will offer buyers the chance to obtain some of Europe’s leading unexposed bloodlines this Wednesday at Goffs Orby Sale.

It could well be a case of ‘save the best till last’, as the final offering of The Wildenstein Stables Dispersal is a Dubawi colt (Lot 472) out of Deep Impact’s Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (Gr 1) winner Beauty Parlour. However, with a draft of this magnitude there is plenty of competition as the preceding lot (Lot 471) is a Dansili filly out of Beauty Parlour’s dam Bastet, a Giant’s Causeway Listed winning half-sister to Melbourne Cup (Gr 1) winner Might And Power.

One of the most celebrated Wildenstein families is that of the Prix de l'Opéra (Gr 2) winner Albertine, whose followers include Prix de Diane (Gr 1) winner Aquarelliste and 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1) winner Cape Verdi. The Wildenstein draft features two beautifully bred lots from this family which includes a Pour Moi colt (Lot 468) out of a Danehill Dancer ¾-sister to not only Aquarelliste but fellow Grade 1 scorer Artiste Royal. Albertine’s Peintre Celebre granddaughter, Andromeda Galaxy, who is a Listed winning half-sister to the Prix Exbury (Gr 3) winner Affaire Solitaire, offers her second foal, a filly by US champion sire Giant’s Causeway (Lot 470).

The Wildenstein family have raced many great fillies in their 93 years racing history, but few match the achievements of the dual champion and Arc winner All Along. Among the yearlings on offer, there is just one opportunity to obtain the blood of this five-time Grade 1 winner via her granddaughter, the Listed winner Adventure Seeker, who is the dam of a Lawman colt (Lot 469).

Another outstanding prospect comes in the way of an Oasis Dream son (Lot 459) of Prix de Pomone (Gr 2) winner Peinture Rare who is a Sadler’s Wells half-sister to Wildenstein’s final of four Arc winners, Peintre Celebre. It is another Sadler’s Wells mare that will give further access to this Plencia family. Poughkeepsie, a daughter of the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Gr 1) winner Pawneese, has a Silver Frost filly (Lot 462).

Singspiel’s Prix de Malleret (Gr 2) winner, Pacific Rim, is another top-class race filly to offer her first foal for auction with her Mastercraftsman colt (Lot 458). Her dam, the Arazi Group 3 winner Prairie Runner, who is also the dam of the Prix Hocquart (Gr 2) winner Prairie Star, is another to offer a Pour Moi colt (Lot 463). Prairie Runner is also the granddam of the Orpen filly, Lot 464.

A Smart Strike daughter of the Listed-placed Galateia (Lot 455) looks sure to get the dispersal off to a phenomenal start. A daughter of Dansili, Galateia is out of Pour Moi’s dual Group 3 winning ¾-sister Gagnoa. Dansili is also the broodmare sire to an Elusive Quality colt (Lot 467) who also has strong Classic links being out of a daughter of the 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1) winner Virginia Waters. Dark Angel’s progeny are on a crest of wave on both the racecourse and in the sale ring and his colt out of Mr Greeley’s Listed-placed Rosa Bohnheur (Lot 465), herself a daughter of the Champion two-year-old Rolly Polly, looks to be no exception. There will be further sharp speed on offer through Prix Maurice de Gheest (Gr 1) winner Porlezza, who has both a Dansili daughter (Lot 461) and a granddaughter (Lot 460), who is by the smart French based smart sprint sire Kenargent.

With a Teofilo daughter (Lot 456) from the much celebrated Lupe family of Champion Loup Sauvage, a Footstepsinthesand daughter (Lot 466) out of a Lear Fan own-sister to Prix de l’Opera (Gr 2) winner Verveine and a Motivator colt (Lot 457) out of an Annaba daughter of the International Stakes (Gr 1) winner Leariva, this dispersal looks set to provide a spectacular finale to this year’s Orby Sale.

The series concludes tomorrow with a profile of the Wildenstein Stables Dispersal horses in training that will be offered for sale immediately after the Orby Sale this Wednesday 28 September.

Foals and Mares from the Wildenstein Stables Ltd Dispersal will be offered at the Goffs November Sale (17 – 18 November 2016).
