Rain leads her rivals a merry Dance on British Champions Day

Dancing Rain led from start to finish under a fine ride from Johnny Murtagh to land the Group 2 Qipco British Champions Fillies' and Mares' Stakes at Ascot and take her career earnings soaring past the £500,000 mark.

The daughter of Danehill Dancer had won theGroup 1 Epsom Oaks and the Group 1German Oaks before coming in to the race and took her winning tally to four with the two length victory.

Trainer William Haggas said: “We think she is outstanding so that is fantastic. It is always a good ride when they are winning but Johnny was very cross after the Irish Oaks that he did not make enough use of her and when he came in after that he said he would not make the same mistake again. I think the plan now is to go to Japan. She'll definitely be back next year."

Dancing Rain was sold by Camas Park Stud to Norris/ Huntingdon for €200,000 at the  and will now look for international success in the Group 1 Japan Cup on 13 November.
