Shamardal Filly Tops Strong February Sale Day 1

The 2015 sales year at Goffs opened in style as strong weanling trade on Day 1 of the February Sale recorded major gains across the board.  Turnover grew by 44%, while average and median both rose by 30%.

The star of the show was a beautiful daughter of Shamardal from Abbeville & Meadow Court Studs ( - pictured) that was knocked down to Ronal Rauscher of Equine Associates for €145,000.  The filly is out of a winning sister to German Group 1 winner Neatico.

Jamie Railton was among the many pinhookers in action today and he accounted for two of the top prices when securing Swordlestown Stud’s son of Born To Sea () for €90,000 as well as a Casamento colt from Ringfort Stud () for €80,000.  BBA Ireland meanwhile went to €85,000 for a colt from the first crop of Goffs graduate Excelebration () from Moyglare Stud, and also signed for an Iffraaj colt () from Meadlowlands Stud for €80,000.

Goffs February Sale continues at 10am tomorrow, Thursday 12th February, with a strong line-up of two year olds, horses in training and breeding stock under both Flat and National Hunt codes.
