Sky Lantern wins Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes

Sky Lantern continued a fine weekend of success for the Goffs Orby Sale when easily winning the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at The Curragh under Richard Hughes.

Trained by Richard Hannon, the two year old broke her Maiden at Goodwood before winning the Listed Sprint Stakes at Naas. She then finished second in the Group 3 Sweet Solara Stakes and Group 3 Prestige Stakes before showing further improvement on her first start at the highest level to come home over two lengths in front of her nearest rival.

The daughter of Red Clubs was sold by her breeders, Tally-Ho Stud, to SackvilleDonald for €75,000 at the Goffs Orby Sale 2011 and she follows hot on the heels of fellow Orby graduate and smart two year old Glass Office, who won the Group 3 Sirenia Stakes yesterday.

2012 has seen a strong focus on quality at this year’s Orby Sale, which features a handpicked selection of the best Irish bred yearlings to be offered on Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 October 2012.

The Orby Sale will be followed by Ireland's second best yearling sale, The Sportsman's Sale, which takes place on Friday 5 October.
