Strong Day 3 Topped By €120,000 High Chaparral Colt

Goffs November Foal Sale enjoyed another day of thriving trade that resulted in increases across the board and an excellent clearance rate of 87%, building on the huge gains recorded on the same day last year.

Today’s sales topper was a High Chaparral colt from Churchtown House Stud (Lot 592) who sold for €120,000 to Camas Park Stud, surpassing the top price last year by some margin.  The foal is from a family of Classic winners with German Derby winner Wurftaube and St Leger winner Masked Marvel high in his pedigree.

The next highest price was paid by Richard Brown of Blandford Bloodstock who went to €95,000 for a son of Big Bad Bob (Lot 672) out of a sister to one of the stars of 2013 in three time Group 1 winner Al Kazeem offered  by Catherinestown Stud.

Following a successful day yesterday for offspring of Norfolk Stakes and Gimcrack winner Approve, his popularity continued today headed by Cregg Stud’s colt out of a sister to Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes winner Hot Streak (Lot 614) who was knocked down to Abbey Farm for  €90,000.  Woodford Stud’s Rip Van Winkle colt out of a Stakes placed daughter of Danehill (Lot 568) sold to Camas Park for €85,000, while Jamie Railton went to €78,000 for a son of Iffraaj out of a sister to Group winner Tactic (Lot 499) from Kilmore Stud.
