Superb Weekend for Goffs Graduates

It was a superb weekend for Goffs graduates on the track across Europe in both codes with dual Group and Graded successes.

Orby graduate Johannes Vermeer (pictured) took top honours on the flat winning the Group 1 Criterium International at Saint-Cloud, while Sportsman's and November Foal graduate My Dream Boat won the Group 3 Prix Perth.

Land Rover graduate Kilcooley stormed clear in the Grade 2 Hurdle at Wetherby and fellow Land Rover graduate Devil’s Bride took the Grade 3 Chase at Naas.

Flat

Irish Champions Weekend winner Johannes Vermeer followed up on his promising career efforts to date, which include Group 3 success and second to fellow Goffs graduate Marcel in the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy, to win the Group 1 Criterium International. This colt by Galileo was purchased at the Orby Sale by BBA Ireland from The Premier Consignment for €300,000 and is jointly owned by M Tabor, D Smith, Mrs J Magnier and Teo Ah Khing of China Horse Club. He looks a likely contender to make the coveted Ballydoyle line up for the 2016 Epsom Derby.

My Dream Boat stayed on well in testing conditions to win the Group 3 Prix Perth at Saint-cloud for Clive Cox. The son of Lord Shanakill was sold at the Sportsman’s Sale by Knockatrina House Stud to Shanavill Stables for €16,000 and by Mr Patrick Monahan from the Irish National Stud to Patrick Moyles as a foal.

Goffs graduates enjoyed further triumphs on the flat when 2 year old fillies Only Mine and Tiptree won at Newmarket. Only Mine, by Pour Moir, stuck on gamely for connections, delighting her trainer John Murphy and looks set to reappear in the Irish 1,000 Guineas trial next Spring. Tiptree, a daughter of Duke of Marmalade, made an impression on only her second start to win a competitive back end maiden for trainer Luca Cumani.

National Hunt

Land Rover Sale graduate Kilcooley was exceptionally impressive beating Rock on Ruby by 13l to win the Grade 2 West Yorkshire Hurdle for trainer Charlie Longsdon at Wetherby. This six year old gelding by Stowaway was purchased by Kilronan Stud from Mr John Keniry for €7,000.

The Willie Mullins trained Devil’s Bride continued to demonstrate strength of the Land Rover Sale winning the Grade 3 Chase at Naas on Sunday afternoon. Owned by Gigginstown Stud, Devil’s Bride looks set for some exciting Spring targets. He was purchased by Woodhaven Bloodstock from Cedars Stables for €23,000.

Congratulations to all connections!
