Outstanding Doncaster Breeze Up Catalogue Now Online

The leading 2YO sale for Royal Ascot winners, the Goffs Breeze Up Sale at Doncaster is set to offer another superb catalogue after unprecedented demand for places from vendors following record results and more Royal Ascot success in 2023.

The sale has amassed an outstanding Royal record, with nine Royal Ascot winners coming in the last eight years, and it’s this run of form that has seen buyers from around the world descend on Doncaster in ever growing numbers to secure the fabled Donny Breezers.

Last year Doncaster was Europe’s leading Breeze Up for 2YO winners, with graduates headlined by the Gr.2 Rockfel Stakes winner CARLA’S WAY who shapes as a leading classic contender for the Guineas this season. Other 2YOs to win at black-type level were BEAUTIFUL DIAMOND, who also placed in Royal Ascot’s Gr.2 Queen Mary Stakes, GRACEFUL THUNDER and TIGER BELLE who won the Gr.3 Prix d'Arenberg.

BRADSELL continued the sale’s Royal winning trend in 2023 with victory in the Gr.1 King’s Stand Stakes, a success that followed his Gr.2 Coventry Stakes win as a 2YO, just eight weeks after he was sold at Doncaster. PERFECT POWER was another to claim a Royal double, taking the Gr.2 Norfolk Stakes only eight weeks after coming under the Doncaster gavel, and then returning as a 3YO to win the Gr.1 Commonwealth Cup.

That eight-week window is a proven Royal recipe, having also produced the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes winner ARDAD and Gr.2 Norfolk Stakes winner PRINCE OF LIR, and will be in effect once again in 2024.

This year will see the breeze held on Tuesday 23 April at Doncaster Racecourse from 8.30am with the sale held the following day on Wednesday 24 April from 10am. The catalogue will feature 235 lots, 64 of which are nominated for the Swedish Derby & Oaks Series, six for the Goffs Two Million Series and two for Harry’s Half Million. 10 are eligible for French Premiums and a further 10 for the lucrative GBB scheme whilst some of the many highlights include:

  • Lot 4, a Siyouni colt out of a half-sister to the Gr.1 winner REGAL PARADE.

Goffs UK Managing Director Tim Kent commented:

“It is a proud boast that the Doncaster Breeze-Up has been on an upward trajectory for some time now and last year it really made a statement by achieving the highest level of trade in its history. Following that, and Bradsell claiming our ninth Royal Ascot win in the last eight years, we received over 1,000 nominations for places, the most we have ever received, and the resulting catalogue features some outstanding horses.

“The attraction of a winner at Royal Ascot is a huge driver for many when it comes to racehorse ownership and this sale’s success there has grown its international following to a new level so we will be working hard over the coming weeks to ensure we attract another large and diverse buying bench. We will be traveling throughout America, France, Italy, the Middle East, Scandinavia, and of course Ireland and the UK, and working alongside GBRI and the Breeze Up Consignors Association, to market the catalogue and to ensure we can welcome another international audience to Royal Ascot’s leading 2YO sale on 23 and 24 April.”
