Aintree Grade 1 Double & Land Rover Grade 1 on superb day for Goffs at Cheltenham

Samcro's scintillating win in the Grade 1 Marsh Novices' Chase at Cheltenham provided the first leg of a Grade 1 double for graduates of The Aintree Sale on Day 3 of the Festival.  This was followed by Lisnagar Oscar's victory in the feature Grade 1 Paddy Power Stayers Hurdle for Rebecca Curtis and the Racing For Fun Syndicate.

Gigginstown House Stud's Samcro was bought by Gordon Elliott at the 2016 Aintree Sale from Colin Bowe's Milestone Stables and is now a two-time Grade 1 winner at the Festival having won the Ballymore Novices Chase in 2018.  Lisnagar Oscar was purchased by Rebecca Curtis at the 2018 Aintree Sale, consigned by Denis Fitzgerald's Lisnagar Stables.  The Aintree Sale has now produced five Grade 1 winners from just four sales, including a Grade 1 winner at the Cheltenham Festival in each of the past three years.

Samcro was also the third winning Land Rover Sale graduate of the week so far, after Grade 1 Arkle Chase winner Put The Kettle On and Imperial Aura were successful on Day 1, while fellow Land Rover star Faugheen ran a superb race to finish just a length behind the winner in third.
