Alcohol Free & Supremacy: Group 1 Double For Goffs & Goffs UK

Goffs and Goffs UK recorded a Group 1 double at Newmarket with wins yesterday for November Foal Sale graduate Alcohol Free in the Group 1 Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes followed by Doncaster Premier Yearling purchase Supremacy leading a 1-2 in the Group 1 Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes, with Group 1 winning Orby graduate Lucky Vega close in second.

Trained by Andrew Balding, Alcohol Free was sold as a foal at Goffs November Sale 2018 by Church House Stud to winning owner Jeff Smith’s Littleton Stud.  The Juddmonte Cheveley Park win also provided a Group 1 update to the upcoming Orby Sale as Lot 337 from Knockatrina Stud is a Starspangledbanner half-sister to Alcohol Free.

It was the second Orby Group race update in 24 hours at Newmarket as on Friday the Sportsman’s Sale graduate Isabella Giles’ win in the Group 2 Rockfell Stakes provided a timely update to Lot 269 as Ballylinch Stud offer a Nathaniel brother to Isabella Giles.

In the Group 1 Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes it was victory for Doncaster Premier Yearling graduate Supremacy.  Winner of the Group 2 Qatar Richmond Stakes at Goodwood last time out, the Jason Goddard-owned son of star first season sire Mehmas was bought by trainer Clive Cox at last year’s Premier Sale where he was consigned by Owenstown Stud.  The Jessica Harrington trained Orby Sale graduate Lucky Vega, recent winner of the Group 1 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes for owner Zhang Yuesheng, finished just half a length in second.
