Catalogue Now Online For The ONLY Dedicated Yearling Sale In Ireland In 2020

The catalogue for the Goffs Autumn Yearling Sale, which takes place at Kildare Paddocks from Wednesday 4 to Thursday 5 November 2020, is now available online.  461 yearlings will be offered, including 61 Lots that were originally catalogued in the Goffs Sportsman’s Sale but did not travel to the UK.

The past season highlighted the tremendous value and quality available at the Autumn Yearling Sale, led by the Ken Condon-trained Laws Of Indices.  Bought for just €8,000 by Dermot Farrington from Rathasker Stud last year, Laws Of Indices went on to win the Group 2 Railway Stakes at the Curragh and was placed in yesterday’s Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp, bringing his prize money this season to over €90,000.

The Noel Meade-trained Elysium is another Group winning graduate of the Autumn Sale having won the recent Group 3 Weld Park Stakes at the Curragh.  Elysium was a €15,000 purchase by Meade having been consigned by Stanley Lodge at the 2019 sale.

Last week also saw a black type double for Autumn Yearlings, with Jessica Harrington’s Zaffy’s Pride, a €13,000 purchase by BBA, winning the 2YO Listed race at Dundalk and Listed 2YO success in Italy for Wealth Of Love who cost just €2,500 at last year’s sale.

Sires represented in this year’s Autumn Yearling catalogue include Acclamation, Australia, Dandy Man, Exceed And Excel, Footstepsinthesand, Gleneagles, Holy Roman Emperor, Kodiac, Make Believe, Mehmas, New Approach, New Bay, Oasis Dream, Starspangledbanner, Teofilo, and Zoffany.

Commenting on publication of the catalogue, Goffs Group Chief Executive Henry Beeby said:

“Due to the issues caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which forced the relocation to the UK of the major Irish yearling sales, the Goffs Autumn Sale will have the distinction of being the only dedicated yearling sale held in Ireland this year. We commend it to potential purchasers who seek quality and value as the performances of its many winning graduates this season graphically illustrate that the Autumn Yearling Sale features both facets in abundance.  This year’s catalogue contains some impressive commercial types which are further bolstered by a draft of Sportsman’s yearlings making the sale a most attractive proposition.

Together with our colleagues at Irish Thoroughbred Marketing, we look forward to welcoming buyers back to Kildare Paddocks, in person and online, for both the Autumn Yearling and Horses In Training Sales”.
The Autumn Yearlings will be immediately followed by the Horses In Training session on Thursday afternoon.  HIT entries will close tomorrow, 6 October, and the catalogue will be available online on Wednesday.
