Eight Winners & A Top Class Breeding Prospect Among Preliminary Entries

The initial entries for the Goffs Punchestown Sale, to be held after racing next Thursday, have been released.

A limited number of further places will be allocated after the four Irish point-to-points, scheduled over the next three days, have taken place. A full catalogue will be released on Monday with wild card entries from the first two days of Punchestown a possibility.



The 12 entries to date include nine four-year-olds that have won or been runner up in point-to-points or NH Flat Races, two five-year old winners and the top-class black type breeding prospect Dolcita, placed in the Irish Grand National on her latest start.

The lots entered (in alphabetical order) are:
 

  • AL GASPARO (4yo g. Al Namix) (C. Murphy) Progressed from an eye-catching debut to win the 4yo Maiden in Loughrea on 26 March.
     
  • BELLAS BRIDGE (4yo m. Telescope) (P. Pierce) Showed admirable resilience to win on debut at Dromahane on 16 April, a race won in 2018 by Honeysuckle prior to her being offered at the Punchestown Sale.
     
  • DOLCITA (8yo m. Saint Des Saints) (W.P. Mullins) Top class breeding prospect, multiple black type performer who was a close fourth in the Irish Grand National on her most recent start. 
     
  • DOUBLE DIGITS (5yo g. Mastercrafstman) (M. Goff) Followed up a debut runner-up before winning a 16 runner Dromahane Maiden on 16 April.  
     
  • FORTUNATE MAN (4yo g. Soldier of Fortune) (M. Goff) A hugely impressive debut performance when beating an odds-on favourite to win a 12 runner Dromahane maiden on 16 April.
     
  • I WON’T BACK DOWN (4yo g. Champs Elysees) (S.Curling) Justified favouritism with a comfortable win in a bumper on 14 April. Looks a good prospect.
     
  • KINGSTON PRIDE (4yo g. Kingston Hill) (T. Keating) Rallied impressively when headed to win a 12 runner Maiden on debut at Curraghmore on 9 April.
     
  • PRENDS GARDE A TOI (4yo g. Kapgarde) (C.Bowe) Caught the eye when close runner-up to DB Cooperon debut in Ballynock on 5 April, pulling 30 lengths clear of the third.
     
  • ROKATHIR (4yo g. Muhtathir) (C. Bowe) With the same sire and connections as Envoi Allen, Rakathir was an impressive winner of a true-run Maiden on 2 April at Rathcannon.
     
  • THE ENABLER (4yo g. Walk In The Park) (J.W. Doyle) Relation of Denman, who jumped well when finishing runner-up on his only start to Kingston Pride in a competitive Curraghmore Maiden.
     
  • TOSS OF A COIN (5yo g Flemensfirth) (L. Kenny) Well-related gelding who travelled well before drawing away to win a 12 runner Maiden by 9 lengths on 16 April.
     
  • TRUE TESTIMONY (4yo m. Doyen) (G. Murphy) Runner-up on debut in a Dromahane Maiden in a close finish with the winner and 18 lengths clear of the third.

 
The sale will take place in the winners' enclosure after the last race on Thursday 27 April. Horses will be available to inspect at Goffs on Thursday morning and at Punchestown that afternoon. The catalogue will be online at Goffs.com on Monday and printed catalogues will be available from Goffs and at Punchestown.
