Altior was back to winning ways over the weekend with an emphatic victory in the Grade 2 Betfair Exchange Chase at Newbury, a race he won in 2018 and 2017.
The Nicky Henderson trained Champion chaser, who was unbeaten for a world record 19 successive races prior to finishing second to Cyrname over 2m5f at Ascot last time out in November, finished in his trademark style when quickening away to a 3 ¼ length victory. He goes to Cheltenham in pursuit of a fifth consecutive Grade 1 win at the Festival and a third Queen Mother Champion Chase title.
Owned by Patricia Pugh, Altior was bought by Highflyer Bloodstock at the Goffs Land Rover Sale where he was sold by Kilmoney Cottage Stud.
