First Winner From Dubai Breeze Up Sale

The hugely successful inaugural Dubai Breeze-Up Sale in association with Goffs produced its first winner with the victory of Dubai Jemila at Ayr on Monday. The daughter of Dubawi, trained by Kevin Ryan for Jaber Abdullah, led home a 1-3 for graduates of the sale in the British Stallion Studs’ EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes.

Dubai Jemila, pictured below, was one of the highest priced lots in the Dubai Breeze-Up, where she was consigned by Malcolm Bastard and made AED 1,400,000 (€347,092) to Yousuf Salem Saeed Saqer Al Kaabi.

Mawada made an impressive debut for Richard Fahey and Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum, finishing less than three-parts of a length behind Dubai Jemila in third. The daughter of Iffraaj was sold by Seamus Fahey Racing on behalf of John Keogh to Blandford Bloodstock.

The first Dubai Breeze-Up Sale was held in association with Goffs at Meydan during this year’s Dubai World Cup and was an instant success, attracting two-year-olds by some of the world’s leading sires including American Pharoah, Curlin, Dubawi, Frankel, Kitten’s Joy, More Than Ready, Siyouni, Uncle Mo and Wootton Bassett.  It produced the highest price and highest average for any Breeze Up Sale conducted by a European auction house.

With such an exciting sire profile and outstanding pedigrees, buyers from around the globe flocked to Dubai for the sale and Japan, America, Dubai, England and Saudi Arabia were amongst the destinations for the choice lots on offer.
