Frankel Dominates Final Day Of Goffs November Foals

Three days of foals at the rescheduled Goffs November Sale concluded today at Kildare Paddocks with a final session of extremely competitive trade for the top lots from a broad range of international buyers.  While final figures fell short of 2019’s record November Foal Sale, the overall returns are very close to two years ago with an average price 9% higher than in 2018.

Frankel fever dominated trade today with the joint top three foals each selling for €440,000 to buyers from Japan, Ireland and the UK, while the next highest priced foal was another by Frankel and sold for €360,000.

In a timely update, Frankel sired his twelfth Group 1 winner when two-year-old Grenadier Guards landed the Group 1 Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes in Japan this morning, and it was Paca Paca Farm who went to €440,000 for the first Frankel foal of the day in Lot 663A (pictured), a colt out of the Group 3 winner and Group 1 Matron Stakes second Lily’s Angel offered by The Castlebridge Consignment.

This was followed shortly after by a pair of beautiful Frankel foals from Swordlestown Little, with the filly out of Group 3 winner Marvada (Lot 673), dam of the multiple Group 2 winner and Queen Anne Stakes runner up Terebellum, knocked down to Blackstar Bloodstock for €440,000, while Juddmonte Farms matched that price for the Frankel half-brother to leading Hong Kong performer Dinozzo and recent two-year-old winner Qaasid (Lot 684).

The very next lot into the ring, Lot 685, was another smashing son of Frankel in Neilstown Stud’s half-brother to Lily’s Angel that sold for €360,000 to Oneliner.

Goffs’ Scandinavian agent Filip Zwicky later secured one of the stars of the catalogue, going to €300,000 for the Footstepsinthesand half-brother to Group 1 winning juvenile and November Foal Sale graduate Lucky Vega from Baroda Stud (Lot 707).
