Grade 1 success at Santa Anita for Goffs graduate River Boyne

Goffs graduate River Boyne put in a storming late run to land the Grade 1 Frank E. Kilroe Mile Stakes at Santa Anita on Saturday, getting up on the inside of favourite Got Stormy to win by a neck in a thrilling finish.

It was a first Grade 1 victory for the Jeff Mullins-trained son of Dandy Man, and a sixth win at Santa Anita where he was a dual Grade 2 winner as a three year old, ran second in the Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile last season and on his most recent appearance won the Grade 3 Thunder Road Stakes at the track last month.

The latest in a long line of US Graded winners from Goffs, River Boyne was bred by Tara Stud who sold him at the 2015 Goffs November Foal Sale to Ballyhane Stud.  He was pinhooked by Ballyhane to the Goffs Sportsman's Sale 2016 where he was purchased by Aidan O'Ryan and Gordon Elliott.
