Honeysuckle & Cloth Cap Star On Successful Weekend For Goffs

A superb day's racing at Fairyhouse on Sunday witnessed the unbeaten Honeysuckle land the Grade 1 Hatton's Grace Hurdle for a second successive year.  Honeysuckle’s latest win extends her winning run to nine from nine for trainer Henry de Bromhead and owner Kenneth Alexander.  The winning duo of Rachel Blackmore and Honeysuckle were was last seen beating Benie Des Dieux in the Grade 1 Mares' Hurdle at Cheltenham in March which followed a thrilling victory in the Grade 1 Irish Champion Hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival in February.

Honeysuckle was purchased at the 2018 Goffs Punchestown Sale by Peter Molony of Rathmore Stud on behalf of owner Kenneth Alexander, and was consigned by Shanrod Stables.  Her back-to-back Hatton’s Grace wins follows three consecutive wins in the race by the 11 time Grade 1 winner Apple’s Jade who will be offered for sale by Gigginstown House Stud at next week’s Goffs December National Hunt Sale as Lot 515 on Thursday 10 December.

On Saturday at Newbury, Land Rover Sale graduate Cloth Cap made all to record a brilliant ten length victory in the Ladbrokes Trophy Chase for owner Trevor Hemmings, Jonjo O’Neill and Tom Scudamore.  The eight-year-old son of Beneficial put in an impeccable round of jumping, and was quoted at 25/1 for next year’s Randox Health Grand National at Aintree following the Ladbrokes win.

Cloth Cap was sold by Bishopstown Stud to Highflyer Bloodstock at the 2015 Goffs Land Rover Sale, having been sold as a foal at the December National Hunt Sale by Amber Lodge to Richard Rohan.
