Jim Rossiter And Ros Easom Retire From Goffs

 

Goffs NH agents Jim Rossiter and Ros Easom retired from their respective roles on the Goffs National Hunt inspection team following this week’s December National Hunt Sale, after over 50 years combined with the company. 

Jim Rossiter is the longest serving member of the inspection team having joined Goffs in 1986.  A former trainer and point to point rider, Jim played a pivotal role in the evolution of the Goffs Land Rover Sale since its launch in 1996.  Based in Wexford, he sourced sales horses from across the South East incorporating Wexford, Waterford, Kilkenny, Carlow and Wicklow.  Among them were countless winners over the years, headed by such household names as the 10 time Grade 1 winner Beef Or Salmon, Champion Chaser Newmill, multiple Grade 1 winner God’s Own and many Land Rover Bumper winners including subsequent Grade 1 winner Commander Of Fleet. 

Ros Easom joined Goffs in 2000.  Also a former point to point rider, Ros was an integral part of the Michael Hourigan yard during the heady days of Doran’s Pride and Beef Or Salmon.  Ros is a well known figure in the point-to-point scene in the South West and has been secretary of the Limerick point-to-point for many years.  She sourced many top class Land Rover horses from Limerick, Clare, Galway, Tipperary and Cork during her time with Goffs, and among the highlights were Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Imperial Commander who was both sourced and prepped for sale by Ros, and more recently Grade 1 Stayers Hurdle star Paisley Park.

To mark their retirement a socially distanced presentation was made at the December National Hunt Sale to Jim and Ros by Goffs Chairman Eimear Mulhern, accompanied by Director Nick Nugent and Bloodstock Director Ronan Griffin.

Paying tribute to the enormous impact both Jim and Ros have had on the growth of National Hunt sales at Goffs, Group Chief Executive Henry Beeby said:

“Jim and Ros have been stalwarts of the Goffs National Hunt team for many years and played a huge role in getting National Hunt sales at Goffs to the level they enjoy today.  In particular, they have played a major part in the evolution and growth of the Land Rover Sale and of the Land Rover Sale type.  The sale is coming into its 26th year and it is a credit to Ros and Jim, and the rest of the team that it is now in a true market leading position.

“Goffs is first and foremost about two things – horses and people. Without the latter we do not get the former so the skill and charisma of Jim and Ros, combined with their huge knowledge and popularity with so many of the NH fraternity has ensured that we have fostered lasting relationships and trust with so many NH vendors as they travelled countless miles to source the best horses for our NH sales.

“The modern-day Land Rover Sale, as well as the success of this week’s December Sale, is the culmination of an ongoing strategic investment by Goffs in our National Hunt business, or in more plain language, our people and we are indebted to Ros and Jim for their role in the evolution of Goffs National Hunt sales.”
