Land Rover Bumper Runner-Up Springwell Bay Tops Goffs Punchestown Sale

Springwell Bay, runner up in Tuesday’s Goffs Land Rover Bumper at Punchestown, topped the 2021 Goffs Punchestown Sale which took place as a live online sale prior to racing this afternoon.  The son of Kayf Tara from Canterbrook Stud (Lot 15) was sold for €155,000 to British-based buyer Equos who relayed their bids via telephone to Goffs’ Joey Cullen.

The same buyer also went to €145,000 for Monbeg Stables’ four year old Getaway gelding Anyharminasking (Lot 6), the impressive winner of a 4yo Maiden at Tipperary last weekend, and to €115,000 for Itso Fury (Lot 11), a recent runner up in a Fairyhouse Bumper, consigned by Sanderscourt Stables.

Another standout of the catalogue was Top Dog (Lot 5), a Bumper-placed son of Leading Light from the family of Altior.  Consgined by Cam Bloodstock he sold to Gerry Hogan Bloodstock for €130,000.

Reflecting on today’s sale, Goffs Group Chief Executive Henry Beeby said:

“Nobody is suggesting that today’s backdrop was ideal for a sale and we salute those participants who engaged with the concept.  Normally we would be selling to a packed winners enclosure at the iconic Punchestown Festival but that was obviously not possible this year.  That said, our superb Goffs Online platform allowed us to comply with all Government directives and return a satisfactory trade in some instances.

As things stand, our next sale will be back to near normal in June and we look forward to welcoming vendors, purchasers and hopefully spectators to Kildare Paddocks for what is shaping up to be a superb Land Rover Sale as we are about to publish the best catalogue yet”.
