Orby Double On Saudi Cup Day & Stakes Success in US

Goffs graduates enjoyed more success on the international stage at the weekend, with a double for the Orby Sale on Saudi Cup day in Riyadh and another Graded winner in the US.

The first race on the inaugural Saudi Cup card and the first ever to be run on turf in Saudi Arabia, the Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors Cup, was won in great style by the Fawzi Nass trained Port Lions with international Group 1 filly Deirdre in second.  Previously a dual winner in Ireland for Madeleine Tylicki, Port Lions is a graduate of the 2016 Goffs Orby Sale where he was sold by Lodge Park Stud to John Ferguson.

The second turf race on the day, the 1351 Cup, was won by the Allan Smith trained Dark Power under Frankie Dettori.  Owned by Al Adiyat Racing, the son of Dark Angel was bred by Guy O'Callaghan and sold by his Grangemore Stud to Clive Cox Racing at the Orby Sale.

In America, Elizabeth Way proved to be a shrewd purchase by John McCormack at the recent Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale from the Godolphin draft as the Roger Attfield trained Frankel filly won the Grade 3 The Very One Stakes at Gulfstream Park on Saturday and is now two wins from two since the sale.
