Orby Group 1 Update: Full Brother To Saffron Beach

A full brother to yesterday’s Group 1 Prix Rothschild winner Saffron Beach will be offered at Goffs Orby Sale 2022.  The colt by New Bay out of the Raven’s Pass mare Falling Petals will be offered by Ballylinch Stud as Lot 453.

The Jane Chapple-Hyam trained Saffron Beach is now a five-time Group and dual Group 1 winner, having won last year’s Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket and took the Group 2 Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot on her previous run this season before yesterday’s glittering success at Deauville.

Goffs Group Chief Executive, Henry Beeby viewed the colt with John O’Connor at Ballylinch and was immediately taken with him:

“This colt has it all -  quality, a magnificent walk, presence and real style. I was smitten the moment I saw him even before I even knew of his blue blood and am so grateful that his breeders chose Orby for this special colt”.

Saffron Beach’s own-brother is among a world class collection of 511 Lots to be offered at the Irish National Yearling Sale from 27 – 28 September.  Numerous siblings to Classic winners and a host of other Group 1 winners as well as Black Type two-year-olds are catalogued, while the sire profile is headed by 11 yearlings from the penultimate crop of Galileo.

All yearlings offered at Orby are eligible for Europe’s Richest 2YO Race, the Goffs Million at the Curragh in September 2023.
