Quality Field For Goffs Polonia Stakes On Cork’s New Sprint Track

With five weeks to go until the 2019 Goffs London Sale in association with QIPCO, Goffs is delighted to sponsor two high profile fillies Stakes races over the coming weeks in Ireland as part of the vendor campaign for this year’s sale.

First up is the Listed Goffs Irish EBF Polonia Stakes which takes place this evening on the new sprint track at Cork Racecourse.  The 5 ½ furlong contest has attracted a quality field of 14 that includes the Aidan O’Brien trained Gossamer Wings (pictured) who finished a short-head second in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot last year. Joseph O’Brien will saddle two runners in the race in Cava and Rainbow Moonstone.

Willie McCreery’s Listed winner Lethal Promise will also line up for the Polonia Stakes, alongside Michael O’Callaghan’s Angelic Light who won the Listed Bosra Sham Stakes at Newmarket last season and the Archie Watson trained Shumookhi, also a Listed winner last year at Newbury.

Goffs will also sponsor the Group 3 Goffs Lacken Stakes on the Royal Ascot trials day at Naas again this year, which takes place on Sunday 19th May.

Ahead of the Goffs Polonia Stakes, Goffs Chief Executive Henry Beeby said:

“Both the Goffs Polonia and the Lacken Stakes consistently produce high class fillies, and are a great fit for Goffs as they fall at a key time in the promotion of the 2019 London Sale.

The Polonia Stakes this year is a new addition to our sponsorship portfolio, and further underlines our commitment to Irish racing that also includes the Lacken Stakes at Naas, the Group 1 Goffs Vincent O’Brien National Stakes at the Curragh as well as significant sponsorships at Leopardstown, Punchestown and Gowran Park.

Cork is another very progressive track that has substantially invested in improving their facilities, and we would like to wish Andrew Hogan and his team the very best in the opening of the new sprint track this evening”.
