Siblings to Mother Earth & Poetic Flare Headline World Class Orby Catalogue

Siblings to this year’s 1000 and 2000 Guineas winners Mother Earth and Poetic Flare headline a world class catalogue of 444 yearlings for the 2021 Goffs Orby Sale.  Taking place at Kildare Paddocks from 28 – 29 September 2021, all lots offered will be eligible for the Goffs Million over 7 furlongs at the Curragh in 2022, Europe’s richest two-year-old race with a guaranteed minimum prize fund of €1,000,000.  The catalogue is now available online.

The current leading sires in Europe are well represented throughout the catalogue with yearlings by Frankel, Galileo, Siyouni, Lope De Vega, Dark Angel, Dubawi and Sea The Stars among many other established and first season sires, while the many catalogue highlights include:

Classically bred fillies:

Sisters to both 2021 English Guineas winners will go under the hammer at the Orby Sale within three lots of each other.  QIPCO 1000 Guineas and Prix Rothschild winner Mother Earth, purchased by MV Magnier at the 2019 Orby Sale, is the latest in a long line of classically bred fillies sourced at the Orby Sale and her half-sister by Sioux Nation is catalogued this year as Lot 117.   Just three lots later is a half-sister to 2000 Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes winner Poetic Flare (Lot 120) who himself was also catalogued, although later withdrawn, at the 2019 Orby Sale.
The Classic pedigrees also include a Kingman filly out of dual Guineas winner and Orby graduate Finsceal Beo (Lot 29) and a Saxon Warrior half-sister to Prix de Diane Longines winner Channel, herself also an Orby Sale purchase (Lot 110).
Other Group 1 pages featured are a Galileo filly out of the Grade 1 winning Scat Daddy mare Nickname (Lot 152), a Dark Angel filly who is a full-sister to Group 1 winner Persuasive and a half-sister to this year’s Royal Ascot Jersey Stakes winner Creative Force (Lot 408), and a Sea The Stars half-sister to Hong Kong champion and multiple Group 1 winner Irishcorrespondent (Lot 413).

Group 1 colts:

An equally impressive selection of colts are catalogued, with progeny of several Group 1 winning mares headed by a Galileo colt out of dual Group 1 winner Simply Perfect (Lot 242), a son of Kingman out of Champion race mare Alexander Goldrun making him a half-brother to Stakes winner Goldrush (Lot 338), a Dark Angel brother to Stakes winner and Group placed Up Hellya out of the Group 1 winner Fiesolana (Lot 25).  Lot 250 is a Kingman colt out of the Stakes winner and Group 1 placed Snowy Winter.
Notable siblings include an own-brother to multiple Group 1 winning champion Alpha Centauri, making him also a half-brother to 2020 Group 1 winner Alpine Star (Lot 347), a Starspangledbanner half-brother to 2021 Group 1 Prix Jean Prat winner Laws Of Indices (Lot 216), and a Saxon Warrior half-brother to ten winners including the Classic winning Halfway To Heaven (Lot 397).  A Frankel colt out of Belista is a half-brother to two Group winners (Lot 377), and also catalogued is a Dark Angel full-brother to Group winner Angel’s Hideaway (Lot 289)

Two-Year-Old Types:

With the added draw of a guaranteed €1,000,000 to be won by Orby yearlings in next year’s Goffs Million, the sale has attracted siblings to a host of high-class juvenile Stakes winners headed by a half-brother to last year’s Group 1 Phoenix Stakes winner Lucky Vega (Lot 196).
Brothers and sisters to Royal Ascot two-year-olds feature prominently including the two most recent winners of the Norfolk Stakes, with a three parts-sister to 2021 winner Perfect Power (Lot 214) and a half-brother to The Lir Jet (Lot 167) both catalogued, while a full-brother to this year’s Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes winner Quick Suzy is Lot 247.
A pair of exciting Bungle Inthejungle colts catalogued are the own brothers to Group 2 Lowther Stakes winner Living In The Past (Lot 370) and Cornwallis Stakes winner Winter Power (Lot 294).  Other high class two-year-old pedigrees include half-brothers to this year’s impressive Anglesey Stakes winner Beauty Inspire (Lot 430), 2021 Silver Flash Stakes winner Agartha (Lot 364), last year’s Gimcrack winner Minzaal (Lot 168), and Oscula, winner of this week’s Group 3 Prix Six Perfections at Deauville (Lot 384).

Commenting on the publication of the Orby catalogue, Goffs Group Chief Executive Henry Beeby said:

“We could not be happier to be back in Ireland at Kildare Paddocks for the 2021 Goffs Orby Sale and even more delighted to present an Orby catalogue that is simply unmissable for international buyers. We are so grateful to those Irish breeders who have entrusted us with such a strong selection of potential classy winners and have worked with them to focus on the individual so that we can recommend every Orby yearling on merit to potential purchasers.

The Goffs Million, with a guarantee of at least €1,000,000 in prize money and a potential €100,000 three-year-old Group 1 bonus, has been met with resounding enthusiasm by prospective buyers, while the success of Orby graduates over the past year has proven once again why Orby is a must attend event. Another Classic winner in Mother Earth graphically illustrates the point alongside yet more Group 1 winners in the US, South Africa, France, Ireland and more Royal Ascot success.

The Irish National Yearling Sale is back where it belongs, in the right place at the right time, and the Goffs team looks forward to welcoming vendors and buyers to the Orby for a stellar selection of many of the best yearlings Ireland has to offer, and the only candidates for Europe’s richest two-year-old race next year”.
