Spectacular Start To Goffs Land Rover Sale

Goffs Land Rover Sale opened in spectacular style today at Kildare Paddocks with extraordinary trade from the outset resulting in a clearance rate of 92% and average price of €53,922.  Part 1 of the Land Rover takes place over two days, followed by one-day of Part 2 stores, and today’s opening trade saw 25 six figure sales which surpassed that of the entire Part 1 last year.

The half-brother to dual Champion Chaser and ten-time Grade 1 winner Altior (Lot 93), himself a Land Rover Sale graduate, drew a huge crowd to the sales auditorium before topping the day's trade as the star store by Camelot, consigned by Peter Nolan Bloodstock for Kevin Doyle, was purchased by Mags O’Toole for €300,000.

One of the leading purchasers on the opening day was Gold Cup winning trainer Henrietta Knight who secured two outstanding stores by No Risk At All on behalf of Mike Grech - Moanmore Stables’ gelding out of multiple Stakes winner (Lot 229) purchased for €195,000, and a sister to a Listed hurdle winner from Peter Nolan Bloodstock (Lot 15) knocked down for €125,000.

Clonmult Farm provided the third highest priced lot of the day with a son of Blue Bresil (Lot 211), closely related several Grade 1 performers, selling to Highflyer for €150,000.  Among a top quality draft from Brown Island Stables meanwhile was Saint De Gane (Lot 27), a Saint Des Saints brother to multiple Grade 1 winner Champ De Bataille who sold to Tom Malone and Paul Nicholls for €135,000.

On a day packed with highlights, others included Springhill Stud’s Blue Bresil gelding (Lot 77) that sold to Ryan Mahon and Dan Skelton for €135,000, and the Evergreen Stud consigned Catango (Lot 90), a son of Gentlewave, who sold to US trainer Keri Brion for €130,000.
