Star mare Apple’s Jade to be offered at Goffs December NH Sale

Eleven-time Grade 1 winning hurdler Apple’s Jade will be offered for sale by Gigginstown House Stud at Goffs December National Hunt Sale which takes place from 9-10 December at Kildare Paddocks.  The 522 Lot catalogue, comprising foals, yearlings and breeding stock, is now available online.

During a stellar career during which she won 15 races, Apple’s Jade became the first ever mare to achieve 11 top level victories, highlights of which included the Mares Hurdle at Cheltenham in 2017, the 2019 Irish Champion Hurdle, and three consecutive wins in both the Grade 1 Hatton’s Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse and Grade 1 Frank Ward Memorial Hurdle at Leopardstown.

Retired in March of this year, the eight-year-old daughter of Saddler Maker is in foal to Walk In The Park and will be offered as Lot 515 on Thursday 10 December.

Gigginstown Racing Manager Eddie O’Leary said:

Apple’s Jade is a very special mare.  She was the first mare ever to win eleven Grade 1 races, a feat now matched only by the great Enable, and we hope that she can mirror what she achieved on the track through her broodmare career.

Gigginstown has never been about having a National Hunt breeding programme which is why she will be offered for sale at Goffs in December.  Apple’s Jade could be ultimate blue hen for any serious National Hunt operation”.

Goffs Group Chief Executive Henry Beeby added:

“It is an honour for Goffs to offer a mare of the calibre of Apple’s Jade.  On behalf of all the Goffs team, I would like to thank Gigginstown House Stud for entrusting this exceptional mare to us, which is a wonderful endorsement of our December Sale”.

Recent Gigginstown breeding stock drafts at the Goffs December National Hunt Sale have included Whistle Dixie in 2018, who at €230,000 was the most expensive mare sold in Ireland for a decade, while the Grade 1 winning Petite Parisienne was another highlight when selling for €130,000 in 2016.

A preview of the December National Hunt Foals will be published on Monday.
