A 91% clearance rate, average of almost €47,000 and 11 six figure stores with a €230,000 sale topper headlined a vibrant opening day at the 2021 Goffs Land Rover Sale.

Sustained demand right throughout the first of the two-day Part 1 section was topped by a stunning own-brother to Grade 1 winning hurdler Airlie Beach (Lot 203 - pictured).  The gelding by Shantou consigned by Peter Nolan Bloodstock sold to Noel and Valerie Moran’s Bective Stud for €230,000.

Aide Memoire (Lot 107), a Martaline gelding from Walter Connor’s Sluggara Farm was another stand out star of day one when knocked down to Joey Logan Bloodstock on behalf of Andy and Gemma Brown for €200,000.

Michael Shefflin and Paul Holden accounted for the next highest priced Lots of the day, going to €145,000 for both Brown Island Stables’ Authorized gelding (Lot 83) as well as a Camelot brother to Cheltenham Festival winner Hawk High (Lot 207) from Ballincurrig House Stud.

Heading a tally of 25 purchases by Highflyer Bloodstock was Goldford Stud’s Blue Bresil gelding (Lot 200) who sold for €110,000, while the day’s leading buyers also secured an Al Namix gelding (Lot 110) from Moanmore Stables for €100,000.

The six figure sales today also included Garrett Barry’s Mount Nelson gelding (Lot 85) that sold to Tom Malone and Paul Nicholls for €100,000; a son of Kayf Tara from Oak Tree Farm (Lot 106) that sold to Aiden Murphy and Kim Bailey for €100,000; and Ballincurrig House Stud’s Walk In The Park brother to two Graded winners over fences (Lot 211) that sold to Ballyboy Stables for €100,000.

The joint top-priced fillies were Jasmiwa, a daughter of Authorized (Lot 100) from Moanmore Stables that sold to Twiston-Davives Equine for €100,000, while Gerry Hogan later went to same amount for Charel Park Stud’s half-sister to three time Grade 1 winner Appreciate It by Soldier Of Fortune (Lot 197).
